 Bolangir / niroj  mishra  :  Police investigation has revealed that it was a parcel bomb on Friday that killed the groom – Soumya Sekhar Sahoo, a techie and his grandmother Jemamani at Patnagarh in Bolangir.

According to Patnagarh SDPO, the parcel which was opened by the newly wed couple contained high grade exolosives. Investigation is on to ascertain who sent this deadly parcel and why. The bride Reema Sahoo is still crtical and struggling for her life in Burla Medical college.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that two bike-borne youth had come to the wedding venue on February 18 and handed over the mysterious ‘gift’ which turned out to be deadly. The gift parcel was reportedly sent from Raipur, the police said.

Soumya’s father is a Lecturer of Zoology in Patnagarh College. Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended in Patnagarh after the mishap as many of the local residents were part of the wedding and had blessed the couple.

 A pall of gloom descended over Patnagarh as calamity struck the family of 25-yr-old Soumya Sekhar Sahoo, a newly married software engineer. He was married to Reema Sahoo on 18th of February (Sunday) and threw a reception party just two days after it.

The couple seemed to on cloud nine as can be seen in the dance moves on their reception day. Swaying on a Bollywood Punjabi number, the coyness of the decked-up bride was clearly evident as she shaked a leg with her husband. Little did they know that tragedy would strike them in such a crude manner just two days later?

A parcel was delivered by two unidentified persons on a bike on Friday afternoon. All the guests had left by then. Soumya’s mother was back to work and father (a Zoology lecturer in Patnagarh College) had gone to Delhi. It seemed to be well-planned move.

The couple was at home with their grandmother Jemamani (80). The bomb was packed in such a way that it exploded the moment it was opened. The parcel had come from Raipur, according to sources.

Police suspect that it may be a case of past enmity or love triangle. A forensic team and sniffer dogs were deployed immediately to gather material evidence. The police would investigate and interrogate people from Soumya’s workplace and Reema’s parents place to ascertain the real motive behind this catastrophe.
