~ After three consecutive wins, Indian U-18 Women's Team go down fighting ~ 

 

Buenos Aires (Argentina), 10 October 2018: The Indian U-18 Women’s Hockey lost a hard fought match to hosts Argentina today at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games. After a high-scoring 16-0 win against Vanuatu on Tuesday, the India team lose the Hockey 5s competition 2-5 at the Parque Polideportivo Roca. 

 

The first period saw both teams in close nick as Argentina opened the score board with 7th minute goal through Celina Di Santo. India's Mumtaz Khan equalised soon after in the 8th minute but Argentina regained lead in the 10th minute with a field goal by Sofia Ramallo. Just before the half-time, Reet scored a fine field goal in the 10th minute to go into the break in a 2-2 stalemate. 

 

The second period, however, was totally dominated by the hosts as they showcased brilliant attack that helped them score three back-to-back goals in the 12th, 17th and 19th minute through Sofia, Josefina Rubenacker and Gianella Palet respectively.  

 

 

The Indian U-18 Women's team will now face South Africa in their fifth match of the Hockey 5s competition on Thursday, 11th October 2018, at 22.30hrs IST.
