ORHDC SCAM : The then ACCOUNTS OFFICER & EX-ACCOUNTANT OF ORHDC(owner of Hotel Suryans)  SENT TO JAIL IN VIGILANCE CASE

Bhubaneswar/Girija shankar Dash :  The then ACCOUNTS OFFICER i Pradeep Kumar Rout and ACCOUNTANT OF ORHDC  Chittaranjan Mallick( the owner of Hotel Suryans)  have been sent to the jail custody after thery surrendered before the  surrendered before Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance Bhubaneswar, to-day i.e. on 08.08.2018 and the trial court pronounced the sentence against them to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand) each on each count for the offence U/s 13(2) P.C. Act/420/120-B IPC, in default to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for two months each on each default. The sentences are to run concurrently. 

 .The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar had pronounced Judgement on 03.07.2018  convicting 1)Sri Vinod Kumar, IAS , Ex- Managing Director, Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC), Bhubaneswar 2) Shri Purna Chandra Das, the then Executive Director (Technical), ORHDC, 3) Shri Sanjay Mohanty, Ex- Asst. Manager, ORHDC 4) Shri Pradeep Kumar Rout, Ex- Accounts Officer, ORHDC  5) Shri Chittaranjan Mallick, Ex-Accountant (Contractual), ORHDC and 6) Shri Asish Kumar Nayak, Secretary of Gramya Bikas Mancha  as they were found guilty of offences U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act., 1988 and Section 420/120-B of Indian Penal Code in Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.54/2007 for criminal conspiracy, obtaining pecuniary advantage to NGO Gramya Bikas Mancha owned by Shri Asish Kumar Nayak by releasing funds in an arbitrary manner without following the guidelines to set up Rural Building Centre (RBC), Balipatna and thereby cheating State and Financial Institutions.  Hon’ble Court pronounced sentence against the convict Sri Sanjay Mohanty, Ex-Assistant Manager, ORHDC, who was present in the Court on the date of judgement and issued NBWs against the others for their production in the court.

     The other five convicts in respect of whom sentences were kept reserved and NBWs were issued, took shelter in the Hon’ble High Court by filing Misc. Cases.  The Hon’ble High Court rejected all the Misc. Cases on 7.8.2018 and ordered them to surrender before the trial court for hearing of sentences.

           As per the orders of the Hon’ble High Court dt.07.08.2018, convict Sri Pradeep Kumar Rout and Shri Chittaranjan Mallick surrendered before Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance Bhubaneswar, to-day i.e. on 08.08.2018 and the trial court pronounced the sentence against them to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of                 Rs. 25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand) each on each count for the offence U/s 13(2) P.C.           Earlier, on 4.8.2018, Shri Asish Kumar Nayak, Secretary of Gramya Bikash Manch was sent to jail custody after pronouncement of sentence  against him.        

          Sri S.K. Das Mohapatra, Ex-Inspector of Police, Vigilance Cell, Cuttack, A/p- DSP, Vigilance Baripada Unit had investigated the case and                        Sri Hemanta Kumar Swain, Special P.P., Vigilance, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of prosecution
