Fighting Covid-19 : NTPC Darlipali hands over One wing of Sundargarh Medical College & Hospital to District Administration .

 To be converted into isolation wards for suspected COVID-19 patients

Bhubaneswar(shasak prashasak) : NTPC Darlipali has handed over One Wing of the presently under construction Sundargarh Medical College & Hospital in three floors, consisting of 200 nos. of Bed Spaces complete with Electricity, Toilets, Water, Fan etc. to the District Administration .  Measures are being made by the District Administration to further  furnish it with necessary medical furnitures and equipments to convert it to Isolation Wards for suspected COVID-19 patients. These facilities include 14 nos. of wards (each with capacity to accommodate 12 beds), 18 nos. of rooms with attached Toilets and another 15 nos. of rooms.

Apart from the above, one Residential Hostel comprising of 16 nos. of rooms to accommodate 48 persons has also been handed over to District Administration of Sundargarh.

NTPC-Darlipali has undertaken construction of a Medical College and 500 bedded Hospital at Sundargarh, Odisha under an MOU with Govt. of Odisha at a total estimated cost of Rs. 418 Crores which includes construction of a fully equipped state of the art Medical College and hospital complete with latest medical equipments , furniture’s and fixtures. The facilities are under advance stages of completion and are targeted to be handed over by July’2020.Once handed over to the district administration , the day to day running and maintenance of the Medical College and Hospital shall be undertaken by the state  govt. authorities.

Among other welfare measures being undertaken by NTPC towards prevention of COVID- 19, the NTPC employee’s of Talcher Kaniha in Angul District are volunteering to provide supply food material to inhabitants of local village-Mankadia Sahi and five other villages with a population of 600 persons who are below poverty level , for one month.  Similarly , NTPC Talcher Thermal is providing 1600 masks through Self Help Groups (SHG) for distribution in nearby areas. In addition 2000 masks are being provided to contract labour which are being prepared in house. Distribution of food packets consisting of atta , dal rice masala , oil etc to nearby needy people is also in process. Local villages around NTPC power plants of Talcher Kaniha, Talcher Thermal are being sanitised with the help of CISF. Similar activities are in place in other NTPC Projects such as Darlipali in Sundargarh District and Bongaigaon Project in Assam.
