Rourkela : More than 1100 persons enthusiastically participated in the ‘Run for Unity’ organised by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) at Ispat Stadium on 31st October morning. Mr. Ashwini Kumar, CEO, RSP flagged off the run in the presence of Mr. Rajiv Agarwal, ED(Projects), Mr.N.K.Samantray, GM (Town Administration) and many other senior officers of the Plant. The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge was also administered to all on this occasion.
The runners covered about 3.5 kilometer and returned to the Ispat Stadium. Mr. Jual Oram, Hon’ble Union Minister of Tribal Affairs graced the concluding function as the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Oram elaborated about the importance of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas that is being celebrated to mark the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played a vital role in unifying the country. The top 15 each in the category of men and women runners were awarded by Mr. Oram. Mr. Rajiv Agarwal, gave away prizes to the winners of the elocution competition organized earlier by the Education Unit of RSP to mark the occasion.
Mr. N.K. Samantaray, welcomed the gathering, at the prize giving ceremony, while Mr. Hiralal Mohapatra, DGM (PH & SW) proposed a formal Vote of Thanks. Mr. E. Siddiqi, Field Assistant, Sports and Mr. Niranjan Samal, Estate Supervisor, Town Services coordinated the event.
