BLOCK DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (BDO) ARRESTED<\/span>\u00a0BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING BRIBE<\/span>.<\/span><\/h1>\n

Sundargarh\/Horachand Dehuria<\/strong>\u00a0 :\u00a0 Sri Prasanta Kumar Rout, B.D.O., Bisra Block, Dist- Sundargarh\u00a0<\/span>has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division\u00a0while\u00a0accepting illegal gratification of Rs.1,00,000\/- (Rupees One Lakh) from complainant Sri Prasanta Kumar Jena, Panchayat Executive Officer,\u00a0 (P.E.O.), Jhirpani Gram Panthayat under Bisra Block of Sundargarh district for issue of administrative approval of 4 nos. of works, to be executed departmentally, under 14th<\/sup>\u00a0Finance Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n

The gist of the case is that the Jhirpani Gram Panchayat has been allotted with 4 nos. of works under 14th<\/sup>\u00a0Finance Commission to be executed departmentally. The complainant Sri Jena, P.E.O had time and again requested Sri Rout, B.D.O, Bisra Block for issue of administrative approval of aforesaid works. Sri Rout, B.D.O demanded Rs.1,00,000\/- (Rupees One Lakh) for the above purpose. Finding no other option, Sri Jena agreed to pay the demanded amount against his will and reported the matter before Vigilance for taking legal action.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Accordingly, a trap was laid on 6.11.2018.\u00a0 Accused Sri Rout, B.D.O. was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers at the rest room of Bisra Block office, while demanding and accepting bribe of\u00a0<\/span>Rs.1,00,000\/- (Rupees One Lakh) \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>from complainant Sri\u00a0<\/span>Jena<\/span>. Sri Rout, B.D.O received the bribe money of\u00a0<\/span>Rs.1,00,000\/- (Rupees One Lakh)\u00a0<\/span>from the complainant, and kept the same in a table drawer. The bribe money of\u00a0<\/span>Rs.1,00,000\/- (Rupees One Lakh) \u00a0<\/span>was \u00a0recovered from the possession of Sri Rout and seized in presence of witnesses. His right hand wash as well as table drawer wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. His residential house located at Bhadrak Town, rented house at Bhubaneswar and Govt. quarter at Bisra, Dist-Sundargarh are being searched. Sri Rout, B.D.O. has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In this connection<\/span>, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S case No.65 dt.5.11.2018 U\/s 7(a) Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.<\/span><\/p>\n
