New Delhi (G.S.Dash) : It is a matter of great pride for Odisha that Dr R.P.Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police, Odisha has been awarded with “Police Excellence Award” by Foundation Police Research, New Delhi. Dr Sharma was felicitated during International Police Expo and Conference on 10th May, 2018 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi for his exceptional services to public and protecting their rights for a better civil society in Odisha by Shri Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs.

          “Foundation Police Research” is an institution of national repute consisting of retired Police Officers which works in close coordination with BPR&D, New Delhi in the field of research and policy advisories. Conferment of this award is for the second time in its history and Dr Sharma is the only Odisha Cadre IPS officer to have been honoured with this prestigious award. This has not only bolstered the image of Odisha Police at national level but has also brought laurels to our state
