Pay the dues or face consequences : CESU will start power disconnection drive from 16th of January

Bhubaneswar(SPB) : Central Electrical Supply Utility (CESU) will start power disconnection drive from 16th of January, 2020 to the defaulting consumers having pending electricity bills. The squad operation will be held  on 1643 routes  covering  all the sections and sub divisions under 20 electrical divisions of cesu area of operation in the districts of Cuttack , Jagatsinghpur , Kendrapara, Dhenkanal , Angul , Puri , Khordha , Nayagarh and part of , Jajpur. To cover the rural area, 413 numbers of special squads will operate in 11,397 villages and on an average a squad will cover 3 to 4 villages in a day.  

        After the press conference held on 10.12.2019, CESU Authority has released public notices in daily newspapers regarding a appeal to defaulters for payment of pending electricity bill by 15.01.2020. Further 5 lakhs of leaflets were distributed through news papers and through CESU employees from 25th to 29th of December, 2019 to make the public and consumers aware. For wide information CESU has spread this message through hoardings and street theatre groups in different areas. The Franchisee organizations like ENZEN and FEDCO have also sent messages by SMS to the defaulters of their area to pay the electricity bills by the given date to avoid electricity disconnection.   

      In the mean time CESU has issued disconnection notices to 8.36 lakh Domestic consumers and 59,190 Commercial consumers for arrear amounts Rs. 1251 crores and Rs. 243 crores respectively. Govt. of odisha has also decided to make all the department arrear free in this current FY. In response to issue of DC notices from 20.12.2019 through SMS and physical delivery, 1.10 lakh consumers have already paid arrear amount of Rs. 21 crores.   

    To facilitate the consumers, CESU is also giving installment facility to clear the higher arrear dues. Consumer can get this facility by paying a minimum of 30% of arrear dues and three installments, four installments and six installment in  case of arrear up to Rs.25, 000/-;  Rs.50000/- and more than Rs.50000 respectively.

 

    Again CESU appeals to the consumers to clear their arrear electricity bills by 15.01.2020. Otherwise CESU will be forced to disconnect the power supply.
