Sri Ranjan Kumar Patel, Revenue Inspector, Kalunga Revenue Circle under Lathikata Tahasil, Dist.- Sundargarh has been caught red-handed Today i.e. on 26.11.2018, by the officers of Vigilance, Sambalpur Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand) from complainant Sri Pravat Kumar Patra of Village-Garjan PS-Brahmanitarang, Dist- Sundargarh in order to submit enquiry report for issue of Solvency Certificate in favour of the complainant Sri Patra .
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 26.11.2018 at 10:30 AM. Accused Sri Patel, R.I. was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers of Sambalpur Division in his office room at Kalunga, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand) from complainant Sri Patra . The bribe money of Rs.3,000/- (Rupees Three Thousand) was recovered from the shirt pocket of Sri Patel and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash as well as shirt pocket wash of Sri Patel, gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Residential rented house of Sri Patel at Chhend Colony, Rourkela is being searched. Sri Patel, R.I. has been arrested and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court Spl. Judge, Vigilance, Sundargarh. He has been remanded to Judicial custody till 7.12.2018.
In this connection Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. case No.68 dt.25.11.2018 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 as amended by the P.C (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
