Rourkela(SP) : The 2nd Stream of Oxygen Pressure Reducing Machine Station (PRMS) used for simultaneous blowing at Steel Melting Shop – II was inaugurated by Mr. Gautam Banerjee, ED(Works) in the presence of Mr. C R Mohapatra, GM(Utilities), Mr. A K Chakraborty, GM(SMS-II), Mr. B Mallik, DGM In charge, and many other Senior Officers and employees of Oxygen Plant, Instrumentation and Steel Melting Shop-II were present on the occasion. It may be noted that the Oxygen PRS (Pressure Reducing station) with a capacity of 84000Nm3 per hour has been installed to meet the demand of simultaneous blowing of two convertors at SMS-II.

It is worth mentioning that one of the streams i.e. Stream B of the Oxygen PRS had got damaged in June 2015. As a result only one PRS was available for Simultaneous blowing. To improve the reliability and ensure uninterrupted blowing at SMS-II the 2nd Stream was revived at a cost of Rs 1.6 crores. The erection, installation and commissioning was completed by M/s LIL in close association with Oxygen Plant. The logic and interlock was implemented by Instrumentation department. The job was carried out in phases so that SMS-II production is not affected. The programme was co-ordinated by Mrs. Asha S. Kartha, DGM, Oxygen Plant.
